In 1973, Bonne Bell introduced a flavored lip balm called "Lip Smackers" aimed at the preteen market. The first flavor created was strawberry.Lip Smackers comes in flavors such as fruits, candies, or soft drinks. Some varieties are tinted, while others are frosted or glittery. There are now other variations known as Lip D'Votion and Lip Lix (with added color). Bonne Bell also makes special seasonal assortments for holidays, such as Christmas. Bonne Bell has expanded their line to include nail polish and hair products as well.
Bonne Bell has partnered its Lip Smackers brand with many confectionery brands with Dr Pepper/7UP, Mars, Kraft Foods, and The Coca-Cola Company. They have also partnered with many characters including Herself The Elf, Mattel's Barbie, Disney's Cheetah Girls, and more recently Paul Frank Industries.
